CANNA Substra is the nutrient for water based systems where drainage water is not returned to a nutrient tank but instead drains away (DTW drain to waste /Run-to-Waste / Open hydroponic systems): These are themost popular cultivation methods in the Netherlands and CANNA Substra is the nutrient that is most used for these types of systems.
What Makes Substra Special?CANNA Substra has a balanced blend of all nutritional elements needed by plants. Because substrates used in run-to-waste systems are mostly inert (They don't add or take nutrient elements from the nutrient solution) all the nutrients must provided in the nutrient solution. Excess nutritional elements/minerals can lead to plant damage but they will also end up in the environment. To prevent this from happening the nutrient should be specifically designed for such a system and preferably for your type of tap water. That's why CANNA developed a Hard and Soft water version of the Substra nutrient line. This ensures the exact amount of nutrients get delivered to a plants root system and as little as possible nutrients will end up in the drain water; healthy for the consumer and great for the environment. In the beginning of the growth phase, a plant lays the foundation for its eventual yield. Characteristics of a healthy and powerful growth are vital side shoots and luxuriant root development.
SUBSTRA Vega is targeted to specifically fulfil a plant's needs optimally during this growth phase. SUBSTRA Vega can be applied to all types of inert mediums such as coco or rockwool.
